Talk about UFOs. I started this about 2 1/2 years ago for my then housemate as a graduation present. He chose the colors, and was a music major, which made the fabric for the big star a no-brainer. I set the points in on this one (thanks, Ruth McDowell!) with varying success. This was also some of my first FMQ, and you can see a close-up of it below. I was pretty happy with it, overall.
Now it just needs the binding finished - and it has been in this state for the last 2 years! Maybe I'll get it to him in time for his wedding? I think he is planning to propose sometime soon....
BTW - that is Spike (aka Booger) crawling into the frame. He is half of the major reason why I don't actually use any of my quilts... at least his fur coordinates with this piece!!

I was working through Ruth McDowell's book, Beyond Piecing and got sidetracked. Oh, and don't feel bad about working on the piece beyond the occassion...I have a quilt I am hand quilting for a friend's 50th birthday that I started when she was 46...she is now 53. It is still rolled up on the poles and the last time I touched it was a year and a half ago. I'm glad she doesn't know about it.
Thanks for the photos of your work! I need to get busy again.
