Plans for a hot day

90 degrees is the forecast here in N Vermont today. Yipes! SO what to do? Spend the morning washing up from Dye Day #2 and dive into Dye Day #3 with a yard of fabric I pretreated the other day, and some more that I will treat today! Hurray!

I want to play with various direct application methods on dry, redampened, and newly-treated cottons. I figure that I will try the same ideas in series on all three, and see what I get for results. Yup - little old fashioned scientific method in action! The one 'extra' variable (bad scientist!) is that the newly treated bit is going to have to be muslin, as I'm out of the Quilter's cotton. DD1 used muslin, DD2 used QC, and I got comparable results, so I'm not really worried (I was concerned that the heavier fabric would take the dye differently, but not substantially).

Then? Off to Barns and Snowballs with DH for some air-conditioned delving into expensive quilting magazines! Yipee!!! (I start teaching again in 2 weeks, so I am trying to make these last full days into mini-vacations for myself...)
